Following graduation from Emergency Medicine residency in 2003, Dr. Jason Stopyra entered private practice at a rural community hospital Emergency Department. In 2013, he accepted an academic position with Wake Forest University. In 2016 he was named the North Carolina Doctor of the Year. In 2022 following a WPV event, Dr. Stopyra was asked to lead WPV mitigation efforts for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Dr. Stopyra is regarded as a national leader and subject matter expert in the emerging discipline of workplace violence mitigation. He has partnered with Advocate Health leadership to improve teammate safety quantitatively and qualitatively. He was named Enterprise Vice President, Public Safety in May of 2024.
