Mike Allen is a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. Mike has worked in multiple states and hospitals over the years. He has been the Director of the Emergency Department at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, GA for 14 years.

He firmly believes that every patient that walks (or rolls) through the door deserves the same respect— No matter how minor or major their emergency is. He expects every patient to be treated the same regardless of their financial or insurance situation.

Mike is from Indiana but resides in Cleveland, TN. When he is not at work, you’ll find him working on one of many of his classic cars, enjoying Nascar races, going to rock concerts or hanging out with his three children.

The Emergency room is the front door to the hospital. Twenty four percent of our ED patients are admitted to the inpatient units. The experience in the Emergency room will impact all inpatient stay in the hospital. Many Emergency Rooms have opportunity to improve their patient experience and change their unit culture. In this session participants will learn how we moved the Emergency Department PX results from the 3rd%ile to the 90th %ile in 9 months in Fiscal year 2024. Current Emergency Department results remain at the 89th%ile YTD for Fiscal year 2025. Results will be shared, along with Hamilton Health Care System’s playbook for improvement.
