In this session, we will cover a narration of care course that we developed, the content of the course, and how we validated or observed clinicians to see whether their behaviors reflected what was taught. We will also share the results of the course, which showed dramatic improvements in domain scores for all 8 hospitals, as well as improvements for 70% of all units. Importantly, this session will be formatted similar to a workshop in that we will engage with the audience, provide our content, share tips and pitfalls, and share an implementation framework to allow other hospitals to easily replicate.

Objectives:

• Describe course development and implementation for strengthening narration of care behaviors

• Provide practical guidance for other hospitals to validate and observe clinicians to see whether and how their behaviors comport or deviate from what is taught in the course.

• Show how the course resulted in improvement performance in patient experience.
