Director of Quality and Patient Experience The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center

Amy Helder currently serves as Administrative Director for Patient Experience at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio with responsibility for building and supporting a culture that focuses on the patient and family experience. Direct areas of responsibility include Interpreter Services, Pastoral Care, Patient and Family Advisor program, Patient Relations, and Information Desk & Family Waiting areas as well as strategic work designed to measure, evaluate, communicate, and improve the patient and family experience across all care settings. Amy’s experience includes progressively responsible leadership roles within the Medical Center’s hospitals over the last 24 years. She has served as Quality Manager supporting several clinical departments and Director of Accreditation, Quality, and Service at University Hospital East with responsibility for clinical, service, and regulatory functions as well as operational responsibility for the Veteran’s Disability Testing Clinic and Materials Management. Amy has been invited to serve as a guest lecturer for MBA students at the Fisher College of Business and undergraduate students in the School of Allied Medical Professions. Publication and presentation topics at local and national conferences focus on use of data and innovative approaches to improve quality and service outcomes. Amy also served as a Senn Delaney certified Culture Transformation Facilitator for the University and conducted retreats across the University and Medical Center that directly supported the President’s Excellence to Eminence work aimed at increasing personal, team, and organizational effectiveness. She was also awarded the organization’s highest leadership honor, the Excellence in Leadership award. Amy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Case Western Reserve University and a Master of Science degree from the School of Public Health at The Ohio State University. She is a member in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
