Mr. Edward “Eddie” Borrego is the Chief Experience Officer for Jackson Health System and the SVP and CEO for Jackson West & South Medical Centers. In his dual role, Eddie oversees system wide consumer experience and runs all operations and strategy for two of the systems medical centers. Eddie is a highly respected leader known for his innovative and relentless drive for developing, launching and sustaining new business ventures and consumer centric initiatives for the health system. Most recently, Eddie planned and led the opening of the first academic medical center in Southwest Florida and first built-to-suit campus in Jackson Health System's network. Prior to the center’s opening in August 2021, Mr. Borrego was responsible for overseeing the planning, designing, execution and successful opening of the $280 million campus. His current focus is leading the operations, care delivery, and growth of Jackson West and South, which is home to two acute care hospital totaling 360 beds, diagnostic center, outpatient clinics, adult and pediatric emergency rooms, and an ambulatory medical facilities. In his role as system CXO, Eddie has developed a comprehensive program that has taken Jackson from the 50th percentile in Patient Experience to the 75th in a record two years.

Eddie has been an executive with Jackson Health System for close to a decade and has reputation and remarkable ability for developing innovative solutions, driving high performing teams and rising to complex challenges facing his organization and the South Florida Community. Eddie served as the chief operating officer of Jackson South Medical Center, a 262-bed, acute care hospital in South Miami-Dade, and was also the director of corporate initiatives for Jackson Health System charged with leading complex change and innovation initiatives. At Jackson South he opened the southern most trauma center in the country, doubled the hospitals census and lead over 60 million in capital improvements. Eddie has led multiple divisions navigate through complex times having also served as interim director of Corrections Health Services establishing the first mass COVID-19 testing and vaccination site for Miami-Dade County residents and leading multiple health system initiatives.

Prior to joining Jackson, Eddie spent nearly a decade in public service having served on the leadership teams for two Florida Governors, a United States Senator and at the age of 23 the youngest Chief of Staff at the Miami-Dade County Commission. Eddie holds degrees from FSU and UM, serves on the boards of the Orange Bowl, Voices for Children, the World Trade Center Miami, and is part-time faculty at the University of Miami Business School.
